Press release. Discovering Startups 13 sees potential in WhiteSpace WhiteSpace Water Ltd. has been selected as one of five winners of the 2013 Discovering Startups competition organised by Cambridge Wireless and Silicon Southwest. 18 tech companies pitched for the prestigious award but only five could be selected as winners. http://www.cambridgewireless.co.uk/news/article/default.aspx?objid=44941 WhiteSpace Water impressed the judges by the importance of the problem which WhiteSpace is tackling, that of ageing water infrastructure supporting most established towns and cities in the world. The UK has the most heavily instrumented water and wastewater networks, but still has very low level of understanding of the condition and capability of the underground water and wastewater infrastructure. Laurie Reynolds, Managing Director of Aquamatix, said: “This is a really exciting moment for Aquamatix and WhiteSpace Water. We are on the brink of transformations driven by the Internet of Things, and this endorsement from the leading open wireless networking organisations is a huge spur to our work. There are huge challenges ahead but we stand much greater chance of addressing them through collaboration networks and open standards” ENDS NOTES TO EDITORS: Aquamatix is a software and services company providing specialist integration of real-time systems and data for water and wastewater operations and asset management. We are adapting technologies and standards from smart grid and the Internet of things and applying them to the water industry. Our WaterWorXâ„¢ platform, powered by ThingworX, enables real-time measurements and performance data to be combined with asset and GIS data to gain new knowledge and understanding of asset condition and system performance. The insight gained can be used to optimise new investment to balance capacity, obsolescence, demand and risk. Discovering Start-Ups competition is run by Cambridge Wireless and Silicon South West – two of the UK’s leading technology industry networks – along with the support of London’s Tech City. Now in its fourth year, the competition is sponsored by Qualcomm Ventures, as well as Google, Rohde & Schwarz, SETsquared, Microlease/Agilent Technologies and Taylor Wessing, who hosted the pitch event at its London headquarters.
