On Friday Swirltex made history at the Concordia station in Antarctica. The wastewater treatment system is one of the highest altitude operating membrane treatment plant in the world in addition to the only inland wastewater treatment plant in Antarctica. What we have done, will be used a model for water recycling for space travel and future colonization of planets. This is a huge achievement and the fact that it was done with membrane system that was invented in a garage in NW Edmonton, Canada is even more amazing. I’m not sure if everybody knows this but this was attempted almost 7 times by major American and European engineering firms. Almost all inland bases in Antarctica pump their waste into the ice because they didn’t think the treatment was possible or affordable. A small Canadian company was asked to complete the “Everest” of wastewater treatment projects by the French/Italian arctic program and succeeded. This was the third attempt at wastewater treatment at this location and some major European engineering firms have failed where we succeeded. I’m proud that Swirltex has made history and was chosen to be part of this achievement and we were able to highlight the versatility of the new direct crossflow membranes.  To learn more about the project please visit our Facebook page or email me directly at pchristou@swirltex.com Thank you for taking the interest in this great achievement.
