Lionel Vigil is combining local knowledge of farming communities in his native Peru with development know-how to harvest rain water and tackle water security as the climate changes in the Andes.
Vigil, who has a degree in health sciences and is now regional director for Latin America at the international development NGO World Neighbors, says that his work on rainwater harvesting was a natural outgrowth of helping small farmers in the Andes of Peru on sustainable agriculture, water, sanitation and hygiene and savings and credit groups
