Use of Teflon Coated GRP for Sulfuric Acid Storage Tanks
Tuas Singapore SWRO Plant (136,000 m3/day)

In general, the sulfuric tanks used in SWRO Plants are made of pure carbon steels. However, in Tuas Singapore SWRO Plant (136,000 m3/day) is exception. The sulfuric acid dosing and storage tanks are made of Glass Reinforced Polyester (GRP) with internal lining of Teflon.
During IDA Biennial Conference held in Singapore, I personally visited the Tuas SWRO Plant at the outskirts of Singapore city and witnessed myself the material of construction.
The operation personnel conveyed to me that they are hundred percent comfortable with the construction material and they have absolutely no problem.
The other similar such example is Marafiq-Sadara SWRO Plant (178,000 m3/day) located in Al-Jubail, Saudi Arabia where this tank is made of Fiber glass with internal lining of Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC).
