Call for articles on Pumps, Valves & Automation Systems for WWTPs - August 2019 issueDear Industry Colleague,I am working on the August 2019 issue and would like to invite you to contribute technical articles, case studies, research papers on “ Pumps, Valves & Automation Systems for WWTPs” and facilitate a comprehensive perspective on the same. Please find below the theme note and do let us know if you could send us your article.Theme Note - Pumps, Valves & Automation Systems for WWTP – August 2019 issueAs population growth continues, the demand for fresh water supplies has put undue pressure on reclaimed water to meet the domestic and industrial requirements. On the one hand water shortages, stringent environmental norms and surging sewer are the major challenges in wastewater management, nevertheless the increasing complexities in the composition of wastewater has made it important to select the right pump. With the development of technology and tightening of treatment requirements, the importance of automation at wastewater treatment plants has increased. Pumps and valves are an essential element of industrial processes and they often use up more energy than necessary. In the wastewater treatment plants, pumps and valves play vital roles in shifting huge quantities of water which means the energy consumption is equally high accounting for over 20% of the operation costs. The second largest cost driver is pumping stations which often use obsolete technology. The reason being costs of installation, maintenance and operations can be higher than the initial purchase price. Therefore, it makes sense to pay more for the pump at the outset because that will produce savings in other areas. It is evident that energy-efficient process is the need of the hour. To ensure reliable and cost-effective pump operation, it is important to select the right pump for your wastewater treatment plant. Our August 2019 issue will focus on latest cost-efficient Pumps, Valves & Automation Systems for WWTP and distribution systems. The selection of a pump for a particular condition should be approached with as much information as possible about the conditions under which it will operate. We would like to invite you to share your experiences in the form of articles, technical papers and case studies with our readers. Please inform us of your intent to contribute at the earliest, so that we can evaluate the articles for the publication.
