Stream Restoration in Rural areas - Here in Montana we are working with many disciplines to try to relax the floodplain portion of permitting requirements for stream restoration projects in areas with little to no infrastructure. We have numerous cases where a small restoration project has been squashed by the huge cost of engineering for the no-rise requirement. Are people in other states having the same issues? How have you dealt with this? We have a committee here working with FEMA to try to come up with ways to complete these projects without having to spend 10's of thousands for engineering analysis in areas that have not threat to life or property.
