So, I suppose the biggish question is what kinds of WWTPs are being monitored, or at least their outfall waters? Is this a group of primary or secondary or tertiary treatment? Are these from developed countries, developing countries or both? This is certainly not encouraging news. This paper would have substantial power in decision making if we knew whether the receiving waters received nonpoint source, if the WWTPs were being disinfected, or especially disinfected with either Ozone or Advanced Oxidation as in UV + OH-.
