Interesting, but what is the point? Is it that people should not grow crops and engage in international trade to improve their livelihood and national income? One could make a similar observation about production of any product that is sold internationally. It is called 'trade'. If there are peripheral negative consequences or hidden unconsidered costs, they should be dealt with by price, or national taxes to change the incentives. JK Galbraith and others have made the point that: ' in the long run we are all dead, we must be concerned with the short run, too.'
