180Mil Euros to Improve Murcian Sewage Network

The work is part of a plan to improve water treatment throughout the Region of Murcia
The regional government has announced that 180 million euros is to be committed to improving the network ofsewage and water treatment plants throughout Murcia as part of the regional Sanitation and Purification Plan of the Region of Murcia.
The plan as a whole has a budget of 180 million euros and will be implemented between now and the year 2025, with the main aim being to connect all of the main towns and cities of the Region, and within the specific improvements detailed are the upgrading of the current sewage plant facilities which service Camposol and Goñar, in the municipality of Puerto Lumbreras.
In addition immediate works are to be carried out to improve services in the purification plant of Otos in Moratalla, and the collector of Los Marines in Calasparra.
According to Adela Martínez-Cachá, the minister for Water, Agriculture and the Environment in the regional government, once implemented the new plan will bring benefits in terms of energy efficiency, the re-use of treated water and the conservation of the natural environment, this last objective being achieved by improving the water quality in the Mar Menor and on the Mediterranean coast.
The first phase of the plan, which is budgeted to cost 135 million euros, consists of improving and extending existing water treatment plants, bringing direct benefits to an estimated 1.3 million people. The overhaul at the Camposol plant falls into this phase of the project.
