Texas Water District Upgrades Meter Reading System with Advanced Technology
After recently expiring, themeter reading systemat Harris County Water Control and Improvement District (WCID) No. 36 in Houston, Texas, required an upgrade. However, the previous contract did not cover past the warranty period and included a clause that caused issues for Harris County. As a solution, WCID purchasedDatamatic's ROADRUNNER™ Handhelds to successfully capture all of its meter reading data.
WCID provides areas of East Houston with water, sewage and maintenance. The new relationship withDatamatic,a specialist in utility meter reading automation, provides the county with new efficient meter reading technology and the reassurance of knowing that its investment will last without an expiration contract.
The ROADRUNNER™ Nomad is a powerful and versatile solution for meter reading. The Nomad incorporates the latest technologies, including Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, a laser scanner, and a 5MP camera. Further, when combined with Datamatic's RouteSTAR Meter Reading Software, meters can be read with or without walk-by radio frequencies.
