Hyflux Ltd Announces Opening of Magtaa Desalination Plant, the Largest Seawater Reverse Osmosis Desalination Plant in Algeria and on the African Continent

Hyflux Ltd marked officialopening of Magtaa Desalination Plant, the largest seawater reverseosmosisdesalination plant in Algeria and on the African continent.

The ceremony was attended by Mr Abdelmalek Sellal, Algeria's Prime Minister and MrHocine Necib, Minister ofWater Resources, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Singapore'sMinister for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr Mohammad Alami Musa,

Singapore's ambassador to Algeria, Hyflux Executive Chairman and Group CEO, MsOlivia Lum, Hyflux's partners Sonatrach, L'Algérienne Des Eaux and Algerian EnergyCompany, and invited guests.

"We are pleased to celebrate the opening of Magtaa Desalination Plant. It will beinstrumental in meeting Algeria's water needs.

This project strengthens our presence inthe region. It also demonstrates our technology as well as engineering and constructioncapabilities for municipalities in need of sustainable and cost-effective water solutions,"said Ms Olivia Lum.

"I am delighted that Hyflux has continued to distinguish itself in international markets,leveraging its manyexperiences from similar projects in Singapore and other parts ofthe world.

This development is another laudable milestone for Singapore's waterindustry and I look forward to more local water and environmental companies followingin Hyflux's footsteps," said Dr Vivian Balakrishnan.

Magtaa Desalination Plant is Hyflux's second project in Algeria. Its first desalinationproject, the 200,000 cubic metres per day Souk Tleta Desalination Plant, has been inoperation since 2011.
