App quickly report water waste such as broken sprinklers, excess irrigation and potential violations of local water-use rules
A regional smartphone app, “When in Drought, Report Waste,” launched in late August. It enables users across the San Diego County Water Authority’s service area to quickly report water waste such as broken sprinklers, excess irrigation and potential violations of local water-use rules. The app even offers an option for including a photo or video.
The app is free and available for both iPhone and Android devices through app stores. After downloading the app, users can report waste by either entering an address or using the geolocation feature to pinpoint the problem.
Another option for reporting water waste is to call the local water agency that serves the area where the waste is occurring. A local agency finder is at whenindrought.org, as is more information about downloading the mobile app.
