Runoff from farmlands can carry nutrients, insecticides and sediment that impact source water for downstream communities.
Here is a good video outlining basic information on the current farm Bill as it relates to conservation. It also covers funding through the NRCS for source water protection and the need to reduce nutrient runoff to reduce downstream algal blooms.
