Call for support & sponsorships for the organisation of the WATER SKILLS COMPETITION for wastewater treatment plant operators at IFAT India 2017.
India's industrial wastewater is treated by over 170 Common Effluent Treatment Plants (CETPs) and several thousands of Effluent Treatments Plants (ETPs) installed at individual industries. Inadequate operation and management of these plants are a main cause for the pollution of the surrounding environment and water bodies in particular.
Currently, there is no legal obligation to employ trained staff or to provide training to existing workers at these plants.
To call attention to the importance of skilling in the wastewater sector, the Green Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ), the German Development Corporation (GIZ), and the German Water Association (DWA) organise the annual Skill Competition at IFAT India where ETP/CETP operators get the chance to demonstrate their skills on operation, maintenance and safety acquired in previous training sessions!
