BENGALURU: The Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) is exploring the possibility of making lake water available for non-potable use by setting up the first water treatment plant in the city at Krishna Raja Puram.

“We are starting a pilot project to understand the demand for treated lake water. Tenders will be floated to prepare a detailed project report for a treatment plant, which will come up at the Yele Mallappa Chetty lake on Old Madras Road,” BWSSB chairman Tushar Girinath.

The plant, he said, will treat the lake water before supplying it to houses and apartments nearby.
