Being vented into the atmosphere will be Cool exhaust, some days cooler than the outside air temperature. The US DOE states that for every 1 million Btu's of heat energy that is recovered from combusted natural gas exhaust and is utilized, 117 lbs of CO2 will not be put into the atmosphere. This seems to fit right in with California's goals to reduce global warming and CO2 emissions and conserve water.
