Clean-Frac Prime Launch

Origin Oil launches CLEAN-FRAC PRIME, a product designed to provide water treatment for flowback from fracking and produced water applications from the shale industry
The launch follows successful trials in Bakersfield processing produced water at operations in California's Monterey shale formation.
The technology removes up to 99.99% of free and emulsified oil and up to 99.5% of suspended solids from shale oil and gas wastewater, in addition to the removal of dissolved contaminants.
" CLEAN-FRAC PRIME is designed to remove virtually all suspended contaminants, and even some dissolved solids ," said Lee Portillo, vice president of Engineering of the Oil & Gas Division.
Portillo continued, " Each of these waters has been unique, but EWS technology has proven flexible and robust enough to handle these widely varying challenges .
"We've tested in the Monterey Shale, and initial results demonstrate tremendous success in reductions of oil and grease, total suspended solids (TSS), turbidity and biological oxygen demand (BOD) to below the lower limits of the test - in other words, non-detectable."
The technology is hoped to reduce operating costs; according to data from Bluefield Research, up to $163,000 can be saved on each instance of hydraulic fracturing in water treatment costs and recycling water rather than disposing of it can reduce the costs by an average of $4.20 per barrel.
