System HydroKleen Del Reducing Water Consumption in Food Processingby Installing a New Wastewater Treatment System
Del Monte Fresh Produce N.A. is installing a new wastewater treatment system - System HydroKleen from Altech Technology Systems Inc. - at its Oshawa, Ontario plant.
System HydroKleen is Toronto-based Altech's membrane bioreactor. It's designed to treat 40,000 gallons of wastewater daily from the weekly fresh-cut processing of 100,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables, according to a news release.
The membrane bioreactor will treat regulated sewer discharge contaminants to below sewer bylaw limits for the Region of Durham, eliminating sewer surcharge penalties.
