Denmark Faces Water Restrictions

Denmark Residents Will Only Be Able to Water Their Gardens Once a Week, with Stage Five Water Restrictions in Place from Tomorrow Due to Water Shortage
Months of below average inflows into local drinking water dams mean garden sprinkler systems can only be used one day a week, instead of the normal two days during summer.
Denmark's water supply is at just 60 per cent capacity. This is below the level required to maintain water supplies to next winter.
The Water Corporation said about 50 million litres of water needed to be saved to secure supplies.
Spokesman Andrew Kneebone said with additional water from the Denmark River Dam, restrictions may be lifted by March next year.
Mr Kneebone said all residents would be informed of the changes and they faced a $100 fine if they were caught not complying.
