Dental Unit Integrated Water Treatment System That Uses No Added Chemicals

Planmeca is proud to introduce the world’s first dental unit integrated water treatment system that uses electro-chemical activation (ECA) technology. The system produces clean and soft water for the dental unit without any added chemicals or extra equipment.

The Planmeca ActiveAqua™ water treatment system purifies the water entering the dental unit without added chemicals, guaranteeing a safe treatment environment for both the dental team and patients. The system also includes an integrated water softener and particle filters to prevent limescale formation and to remove particles that might cause technical problems in the dental unit.

The system is based on electro-chemical activation (ECA). The salts in the water are converted into hypochlorous acid and hypochlorite in a patented electrolysis chamber, resulting in an extremely effective disinfection process. The system removes 99.99%* of all microorganisms.

“No extra equipment is needed for water treatment, since the entire process takes place inside the dental unit,” says Jukka Kanerva, Vice President of Planmeca’s Dental Care Units & CAD/CAM division. “This makes use, installation and maintenance extremely simple. All you need to do daily is perform basic flushings according to national guidelines.”

Planmeca ActiveAqua will be available for the Planmeca Compact™ i5 dental unit. Planmeca will be presenting the solution at IDS 2019.
