Source Molecular Corporation offering a Droplet Digital Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) Service on Large Projects Requiring Identification of the Source of Fecal Pollution in Water Samples
Source Molecular Corporation will be offering a Droplet Digital Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) service on large projects requiring identification of the source of fecal pollution in water samples. Droplet Digital PCR is an advanced technology that provides absolute quantification of the target DNA, allowing water managers to know not only the source of fecal pollution but also exactly how much fecal bacteria is in the water.-endpar-
Source Molecular worked with scientists from the Southern California Coastal Water Research Project (SCCWRP), who are conducting an inter-laboratory research study on the use of Droplet Digital PCR to monitor environmental contaminants in water. Since Source Molecular was one of the laboratories that provided support to the researchers, it is very familiar with implementing this technology. A paper related to that study will be published in the near future.
SCCWRP and Bio-Rad Laboratories, the manufacturer of the Droplet Digital™ PCR equipment, released a video last month about this technology. In the five-minute video, SCCWRP scientists Dr. John Griffith and Dr. Yiping Cao discussed the importance of the application of the digital PCR technology on water quality monitoring projects.
