Event Description:

Over the 100+ years since its inception, the activated sludge process has evolved in many ways to meet new challenges and requirements. One thing that persists, however, is the general desire to take sewage far away as quickly as possible.

Recently, though, the attitude towards sewage has begun to shift from risk and nuisance to resource for water, energy and fertilization materials. At the same time, technology developments in computers, automation, and telecommunication enable managing multiple assets from a single location, thus overcoming one of the last obstacles to planning distributed sewage treatment over centralized.

While centralized treatment makes sense in many (perhaps even most) cases, the potential benefits of distributed planning are so great that it warrants consideration. This webcast looks into global growth trends and drivers in the field of decentralized wastewater treatment offerings and adoption. Market data and cost-benefit analyses will be reviewed, with emphasis on MABR-based package plants as an example of the life cycle cost benefit. Presenters will examine the technology as well as the concept of distributed planning and related cost calculations such as investment cost savings and operational cost savings for different scenarios.
