District's Water Sources on Google Earth

The Nashik Zilla Parishad along with the Groundwater Surveys & Development Agency Would Soon Begin to Identify the Geographic Location of the Water Sources through GPS
The information would then be provided to the central government, who, in turn, would upload it on Google Earth.
An official at the water supply department of the ZP said that it has been decided to record the longitude and the latitude of the water sources with the help of GPS systems, which would be registered, along with the source code, which the ZP had recently conducted.
There are as many as 3,700 different water sources registered with the ZP in the district, out of which, locations of 1,100 would be registered initially.
The location would be attached to the unique code that has been given to the village, along with its water source code according to its category.
The move would help to know the exact location of the water source and its condition throughout the year with the help of the internet, the official added.
It is the first time that such an activity is being conducted by the ZP. An official at the GSDA said that technical support like training the ZP officials would be done by the GSDA through workshops.
The work in this regard is likely to begin by the beginning of the next month.
The water supply department has recently completed the identification of every drinking water source for every village in the district, thus enabling the system to keep a watch on the health of the water sources and the need to augment them for the village, if needed.
