800 Million Euros Given For Water Projects in Angola
The European Union pledged 800 million euros ($1.1 billion) for water and sanitation projects inAngolaover seven years, Jornal de Angola reported, citing Head of Social Development and Infrastructures Miguel Varela.
The funding includes technical assistance to boost the quality of piped water and improve systems to manage the resource, the state-run newspaper cited Angola's National Director of Water Lucrecio Costa as saying.
About half the southwest African nation's population of 21 million has access tosafewater supplies and 30 percent to sanitation, according to theUnited Nations Children's Fund.
