Scottish Water was among the winners at the Environment Agency & Waterwise UK Water Efficiency Awards 2014.
The Dunfermline-based company was successful in "Exemplar Project in Scotland" category, announced at last night's awards ceremony.
The Environment Agency & Waterwise UK Water Efficiency Awards 2014 is the most high profile awards scheme in the UK to recognise the water efficiency achievements of the public, private and third sector organisations who promote water efficiency.
The entry focused on the work Scottish Water has done with the Scottish Government on the adoption of a minimum standard for water efficiency measures.
Bill Brydon, Supply Demand Manager, Scottish Water, said: "Scottish Water worked closely with the Scottish Government Building Standards Division (SGBSD) to develop and introduce a mandatory minimum level of water efficiency into building standards for all new and refurbished housing.
"It was agreed that an immediate, sustainable and resilient approach should be explored to deliver efficiency in the new build and refurbishment sectors in the short term, based upon widely considered findings from other water efficiency studies.
"Direct collaboration with SGBSD ensured that water efficiency measures are now a mandatory requirement in Scotland to a Bronze standard. Additionally, developers wishing to build to the higher Silver or Gold Standards will also have to include a selection of additional water efficiency measures within these homes."
