Global ultrapure water technology markets to reach $4.4B in 2014

A new study by the McIlvaine Companyin their publication, "Ultrapure Water World Markets," reveals that suppliers ofultrapure watertechnologies will generate revenues of $4.4 billion in 2014, with the power industry being the largest purchaser.
Ultrapure water is needed for a variety of industrial applications includingfiltration, purification and degassing steps. Special materials are required to ensure that no contamination is created in the processing, and consumables such as replacement membranes and ion-exchange resins are needed. There has also been a recent trend towardelectrodeionizationas a replacement for ion-exchange. The elimination of cleaning chemicals and the replacement resins is advantageous from both an operating and environmental perspective.
