HydroPoint Data Systems®, an established leader in smart water management solutions and maker of WeatherTRAK smart irrigation technology, announced that it has begun shipping its most powerful controller to date, WeatherTRAK OptiFlow XR, featuring advanced flow management.

OptiFlow XR enables controllers to share information in the cloud without cumbersome wires or hard-to-manage local radios, and optimizes how, when and where watering takes place within defined water windows, especially at sites with complex hydraulics. The deep domain experience of HydroPoint in cloud-based smart irrigation enables the OptiFlow XR line to ultimately scale far beyond current systems on the market today.

“Thanks to our revolutionary approach to managing complex flow issues, our most powerful controller to date is also exceedingly simple to use,” stated Peter Carlson, chief technology officer. “The interface is highly visual, making it fast and easy to learn and use. By simply dragging a bar for each program, you can modify watering duration, effectively changing irrigation across a large site in seconds.”

How WeatherTRAK OptiFlow XR Works

OptiFlow XR allows users to share flow information from a single or multiple flow sensors across multiple controllers. This enables automatic water window optimization across groups of controllers by keeping water running as close to the site’s hydraulic capacity as possible.

The controller’s eXtended Resolution capability provides high-resolution flow rates down to 1-minute intervals, making it possible to visually diagnose irrigation issues without visiting the site. OptiFlow XR also gives users a host of visual tools to help simulate watering schedules and make educated management decisions.

“If water windows are an issue, either because watering time is short such as in a park or because of local use restrictions, you need to take a long, hard look at WeatherTRAK OptiFlow XR,” states Joseph M. Jackson, Resource Management/Smart Technology Specialist from Sprinkler Supply Company. “As an added bonus, the controller has simplicity baked in. We sailed through installation and setup in a fraction of the time we expected.”
