Possible Partnership in Using Desalination Technology for Treating Saline Water in Several Districts of Rajasthan
Chief minister Vasundhara Raje on Monday explored the possibilities of treatment and recycling of water using two technologies - bio reactor and membrane technology, during the first day of her maiden visit to Singapore as CM. She discussed these possibilities with the group CEO and acting president Olivia Lum, Singapore's biggest water management company Hyflux.
State government officials gave a presentation on the status of water in Singapore. Raje specifically discussed the salination of water in Bharatpur and Nagaur. "We have discussed different techniques on how to reduce the salinity of water in our districts which are facing the problem of saline water," said Raje.
The view which emerged after discussion between the CM and Hyflux management is that the Hyflux's membrane-based technology could be useful to the state since it allows significant reduction in wastage of water. A possible partnership in using desalination technology for treating saline water in several districts of Rajasthan could be in the offing. She also inspected a water reservoir, Marina Barrage, where rainwater is treated and supplied to the households.
