Industrial Process Water Filtration at Plastics Injection Molding Facility (Case Study)

Forsta Filters recently conducted a case study on an industrial process water filtration installation at GI Plastek’s Wolfeboro, NH injection molding facility.

The study, which includes particle analysis data from before and after the Forsta system, highlights how the injection molding process is made more efficient through automatic filtration. Jon Riebau, maintenance supervisor for GI Plastek was looking for a way to reduce the total suspended solids (TSS) in the process water stream. Riebau wanted to prevent the plugging of water channels in the plastic injection molds, provide an unrestricted water flow throughout their entire process, and reduce corrosion due to conductivity.

Forsta’s detailed case study follows the project from its inception, through the design phase, installation, performance review, and ongoing operation. Additional points of interest in this industrial water filtration case study include an in-depth look at particle removal efficiency as well as backwash water recovery.
