In its ongoing quest to equip the global water industry with the world’s most powerful and comprehensive smart water network modeling solutions, Innovyze, a leading global innovator of business analytics software and technologies for smart wet infrastructure, today announced the worldwide availability of its new IWLive Executive Suite a complete end-to-end solution for real-time network hydraulic and water quality modeling, monitoring, forecasting, pump scheduling and SCADA integration. Available for both InfoWater and InfoWorks WS , the IWLive Executive Suite features four targeted synergistic products. These are IWLive , DemandWatch , SCADAMaster and BalanceNet .
IWLive equips water utilities with powerful, mission-critical tools that are both predictive and reactive. It continuously assesses water system performance and alerts operators to problems that may arise in the coming minutes, hours, or days, allowing them to quickly determine time of onset and severity and develop reliable response strategies to minimize downstream effects. IWLive also gives operators unprecedented decision-making ability in developing real-time response strategies, enabling them to run accurate hydraulic simulations that factor in energy costs, weather, real-time or delayed SCADA telemetry, demand history, and valve and pumping control scenarios.
A powerful water demand forecasting tool, DemandWatch can continuously feed IWLive with reliable estimates of water demands under varying weather conditions. It can take into account unexpected temperature changes, especially important during unusually hot days. With continuously updated and refined water demand estimates, IWLive can then readily perform accurate simulations that reliably predict network operational performance over the next few hours or days. The results of these simulations can be used with BalanceNet to achieve optimal operation and management of water distribution systems.
Designed for online applications with existing SCADA systems, BalanceNet reads real-time field data and the forecasted demands from DemandWatch , instantly updates the network model and determines the pump and treatment plant operation schedules that will yield the lowest operating cost while satisfying the system’s hydraulic and water quality requirements. It uniquely combines an optimized mass balance model with an advanced network solver to quickly produce a set of near-optimal solutions for improving system operations. The network solver automatically defines the mass balance model, accounting for changes in demand, controls and other factors at each time step. It then optimizes the mass balance model using Genetic Algorithms. Both energy consumption ($/kW.h) and demand charges ($/max kW) are explicitly considered, and JET, Oracle, SQL and Pi databases are fully supported. These advantages represent fundamental advances in how readily water utilities operators can evaluate the operational efficiency of their water networks, then quickly and confidently develop improved system operations and more reliable performance.
SCADAMaster extends the utility of smart network modeling to encompass real-time, field data driven simulations and predictive forecasting capabilities. It can be configured in a “read only” mode or one that enables bidirectional communication. When used in conjunction with IWLive and BalanceNet , the solution-focused executive suite can provide optimized control schemes to the control room for operational review, or send them directly to the SCADA system. This powerful setup enables users to detect problems before they become events, and reduces the risk of system or performance failure.
Armed with this combined power, water utilities can now better plan, operate and manage their water distribution systems; improve conservation measures; minimize energy consumption and carbon footprint; optimize scheduled maintenance activities; meet regulatory compliance; and enhance customer service.
“The new IWLive Executive Suite delivers a complete, end-to-end optimized smart water network operations and management solution, providing real-time modeling, automated demand forecasting, optimal pump scheduling and bi-directional SCADA communication in one package,” said Paul F. Boulos, Ph.D., BCEEM, Hon.D.WRE, Dist.D.NE, Dist.M.ASCE, NAE, President, COO and Chief Technical Officer of Innovyze. “The comprehensive nature of this bundle supports the growing adoption of real-time network modeling technology by the waterworks industry. It also furthers Innovyze’s time-honored practice of continually adding value to its software and bringing unmatched smart network modeling capabilities, backed by unsurpassed technical support, into the mainstream. We are proud to introduce this valuable integrated solution knowing that it will make an immediate difference in people’s lives, our communities, and our society.”
