Institutes from India, Nebraska to Collaborate in Drought Research

Institutes from India and the University of Nebraska have agreed to collaborate on research that will include studies of how crops react to drought.

An agreement signed last week in New Delhi links the Indian Council of Agricultural Research with the University of Nebraska's Robert B. Daugherty Water for Food Institute.

University President J.B. Milliken says the agreement "provides for cooperative development in water and food security - critical areas in Nebraska, India and around the world."

Milliken says the initial focus of the collaboration will be on drought monitoring and mitigation; development of heat- and drought-resistant wheat, corn and soybean varieties; and development of better irrigation systems.
