The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) will work with two international agencies to promote water-related infrastructure, sanitation and the adoption of Japanese farming methods in Africa.
JETRO said Monday that the government of Japan would sign memorandums of understanding with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the African Development Bank at the meeting of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development scheduled for Kenya on Aug. 27-28.
UNIDO and the African Development Bank will provide JETRO with information on regional demand and market trends. JETRO will use this to help Japanese companies that want to advance into Africa.
In addition to plumbing and sewerage infrastructure, JETRO will support the introduction of water-conserving toilets and mobile medical clinics.
The aim is to facilitate the entry of Japanese companies into the African market, which is expected to grow.
JETRO will also support the introduction of Japanese farming methods and the establishment of Japanese eateries in Africa.
