Siemens will expand the capacity at the M-Station plant within the Jebel Ali power station complex in UAE, under a contract signed with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.
The AED1.47bn ($400m) contract will increase the power generation capacity of the project by 700MW.
The expansion is expected to be completed by the end of April 2018.
DEWA managing director and CEO Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer said: "The expansion project includes adding two gas turbine generators, two heat recovery steam turbine generators, and one back pressure steam turbine.
"This will increase the plant's thermal efficiency from 82.4% to 85.8%, which is considered among the highest thermal efficiency rates in the world."
M-Station is built with an investment of AED 10bn ($2.72bn). It includes a desalination plant that supplies 140m gallons of water every day.
