This technology provides a fast and accurate way of quantifying total microbiological activity in drinking water and wastewater processes, allowing operators to take real-time action to mitigate microbiological problems.

The company has received a 2017 Water’s Next Award in the drinking category. The Water’s Next awards recognize the accomplishments of individuals and companies driving innovation in the Canadian water industry.

The drinking water award is presented annually to projects and technologies that have benefited municipal treatment and/or conditioning and purification.

“Our team at LuminUltra works to help water system operators better understand and proactively manage the risks of microorganisms in water,” said the company’s research and development manager, Jeremy Duguay, in a news release. “Our microbiological testing technology is fast, versatile, portable and accurate, making it easy to ensure the safety of drinking water systems. It makes it possible for water system operators to have critical information in minutes rather than days.”
