Philip Morris International ETP, Otopeni – another successful reference of WABAG’s FLUOPUR® Technology

WABAG Romania has successfully commissioned the Industrial Effluent Treatment Plant for Philip Morris International at Otopeni, Bucharest, Romania during April 2019. The new 1,600 m3/d wastewater treatment plant treats the effluents from the tobacco production process, the entire effluent accounts to around 800 m3/d and utility wastewater which is another 800 m3/d.

WABAG implemented a multi-stage treatment system comprising DAF, cooling system, the highly flexible FLUOPUR® process which is the biological part of the scheme, sludge treatment, dual media and GAC (Granular Activated Carbon) filtration complete with an odor control system.

The MBBR – FLUOPUR® technology is a very stable process which guarantees high flexibility with regard to fluctuations in wastewater loads and volume. Otopeni ETP is the second industrial FLUOPUR® reference of WABAG following the Dragon WWTP for Pepsi Co., also located in Bucharest, which was commissioned in year 2017.”

The commissioning of the ETP was successfully completed on time in April 2019 and since then the plant is achieving the guaranteed parameters without any deviations. The plant will be operated and maintained by WABAG till 2022.”
