Modern Water and Advent Envirocare to test new wastewater treatment in India

india UK firm Modern Water has signed a deal to jointly develop and market its all membrane brine concentration (AMBC) solutions with Advent Envirocare Technology in India.

The new technology will be applied to wastewater treatment facilities across the Asian country.

The companies will jointly fund and install a pilot test plant at an operational wastewater treatment facility in India, with completion of testing aimed for the end of this year.

In the pilot test phase, the plant will demonstrate economic and process benefits of the technology, particularly reduction of wastewater volume for subsequent brine crystalliser treatment at low operational cost compared with several existing processes, Modern Water claimed.

Modern Water CEO Simon Humphrey said: "We are pleased to partner with Advent Envirocare in the important Indian market and we are confident that together we will be able to bring quantifiable benefits to customers by significantly lowering the cost of waste water treatment in achieving ZLD standards.

"Furthermore, this will allow for a much more economic and practical way to minimise industrial discharges to the environment.

"This will allow for a much more economic and practical way to minimise industrial discharges to the environment."

"This project will clearly demonstrate the benefits of Modern Water's approach and will allow us to promote our brine concentration technology throughout the world."

Certain industries require brine concentration technology in order to meet waste minimisation and zero liquid discharge standards.

To attain ZLD requirements, conventional brine concentration use combination of reverse osmosis (RO), which is followed by thermal brine concentration and then thermal brine crystallisation.

However, with integration of brine concentration technologies, capital costs are significantly reduced, Modern Water claimed.

Advent Envirocare Technology managing director Soham Mehta said: "As partners, Advent Envirocare and Modern Water will use cutting-edge technology to benefit our customers and make a real difference to the economics and efficiencies of the ZLD process."
