New Association Holds Inaugural Event in Lisbon

Ninety Delegates Representing 50 Companies from 22 Countries Attended the Inaugural International Forward Osmosis Association's First Annual Conference in Lisbon Last Week
The two-day event focused on membrane development, module design, life-cycle costing and power efficiency.
Applications in desal, reuse, food processing, fertigation, life sciences, power generation and brine concentration were addressed. Projects reviewed in presentations ranged from those still in the R&D phase to the well-established but less well known, and to those that have been commercialized with capacities of up to 50,000 m3/d (13.2 MGD).
Committee work groups were established for the Technical Standards Committee and the Education and FO Industry Advocacy Committee, which will be led by Dr Jeffrey McCutcheon (University of Connecticut) and Carl Lundin (CDM Smith), respectively.
