Kemira Opens WaterChemicals Facility in Germany
Finnish chemical firm Kemira has opened a new water treatment chemicals manufacturing facility at Dormagen in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
Said to be the company's largest plant in Europe, the facility will produce water chemicals used primarily in municipal and industrial water treatment applications.
Kemira president and CEO Jari Rosendal said: "This plant is also an example of our continuous efforts in improving the resource efficiency of our production plants and operations.
The plant will use recycled hydrochloric acid, which will be supplied by Bayer MaterialScience from its TDI plant.
Rosendal added: "This will secure Kemira's long-term, cost-efficient access to this key raw material used in coagulant manufacturing."
Kemira said that the Dormagen location offers it with optimal transport options and proximity to its markets in the Benelux countries, Germany and France.
Kemira Germany managing director Frank Wegener said: "Dormagen is very centrally located and offers us all opportunities to carry our product optimally, presently by truck, and, looking ahead, also by rail tank cars.
"Furthermore, we were also able to recruit qualified employees from CHEMPARK while assembling our production team of 15."
