New Marine Sensor System

Production prototypes are currently being evaluated by the U.S. Navy and select companies who seek a more accurate and reliable method of monitoring oxidant treatment levels to ensure effluent discharge compliance

"Installation of the sensor systems and acquisition of data onboard the LPD 23 comes after several years of R&D and support from the Navy SBIR program. The experience and results are very exciting," said Dr. Kent Henry, CTO of Pronghorn Technologies, LLC. "Collaborating with Navy personnel, especially Chief Engineer Lt. Commander Steve Shetler and predecessor Lt. Commander Tony Mata, has allowed us to collect critical data that will be used to fine tune our systems now and during the upcoming dockside evaluations which will lead to production units in 2015/16."

The TRO Marineâ„¢ Sensor System is a self-cleaning and self-maintaining chlorine/bromine measuring device that features a "hot-tap" design for direct in-line insertion into the seawater flow, eliminating costly sample flow lines and drains used by competing technologies.

The system is designed to automate critical water disinfection systems, prolonging the life of expensive equipment, and simultaneously protecting marine ecosystems from excessive chlorine discharge and invasive species. Ships employing the TRO Marine Sensor System will see a reduction in costs associated with system maintenance and improved efficiency of seawater treatment systems.

"The USS Anchorage is a special ship, it was Pronghorn's first Navy ship to receive TRO Marineâ„¢ Sensors," said Mr. Welch. "We were also given VIP treatment by Lt. Kenneth Tuma, a Cheyenne, WY native serving as the Information Warfare Officer aboard the USS Anchorage. We were having a little difficulty getting access to the ship for the installation, but when Lt. Tuma realized we were from Wyoming he rolled out the red carpet! We are honored to be working with such engaged and professional staff."

Pronghorn Technologies, LLC

Pronghorn Technologies, LLC is a manufacturing and distribution company located in the Wyoming Technology Business Center in Laramie, Wyoming. In development since 2005, the patented TRO Marineâ„¢ Sensor is designed for use with advanced shipboard desalination systems used to create potable water and water disinfection systems to clean cooling lines for propulsion and HVAC systems. The compact in-stream sensor continuously detects and reports residual oxidant levels in seawater treatment systems.
