Center for Coastal Education and Research that Will Sit Between Downtown Baton Rouge and LSU
The East East Baton Rouge Parish Planning Commission on Monday (Oct. 20) approved the first component of the 33-acre Water Campus, center for coastal education and research that will sit between downtown Baton Rouge and LSU.
Commissioners approved a 2-acre section of the development to allow construction for the 65,000 square foot, 4-story building to be housed at 510 Oklahoma St.
Officials said earlier this year the building will house the Costal Protection and Restoration Authority headquarters, the state agency responsible for planning projects of the same name across Louisiana.
All three buildings are slated to open in 2016. The Water Campus' other two buildings will housethe headquarters for the Water Institute of the Gulf and the River Modeling Center.
