Our well was in the area on this map just to the NW of the two Brown circles in the NE corner of Iowa.  After my animals and pigs and my family's health was affected by miscellaneous masses and tumors.  I tried to find out the contaminants, or what to test our water for, besides the Nitrates and Bacteria the IDNR repeatedly suggested to test for and claimed were just fine.  Go to www.IowaColdCases.org  to read more in my son Adam Michael Lack's case file titled "A Dead Zone Death". After the IDNR condemned our well they would not tell us what the contaminants were.   So I started testing for some of the chemicals used by upstream farmers.  Atrazine came back at 80 times the Maximum Contaminant Level set by the EPA, Anhydrous Ammonia Nitrogen fertilizer or Ammonia Nitrogen as N was at levels up to 12.2, and Bacteria levels were high when the sinkholes were taking water. Cedar (W) Township, Mitchell County, IA has many sinkholes, as it is an Aquifer Recharge Area and has areas with larger sinkholes that are Designated National Wetlands.  Farmers that needed a drainage outlet for 50,000 acres of wetland, when corn prices went up, pressured the Mitchell County Engineer Jim Hyde to plan with Ray Frana, NRCS agent, and Charlie Heiderschiet, FSA agent, an illegal Drainage District to our Aquifer Recharge Area's Sinkholes.  The Corps of Engineer's had refused a group of those farmers to the west of my farm a 404 permit in about 1991, but they got the IDNR to charge me with Blockage of Water in 2004, and dug a Flood channel 320 foot wide by 6-7 foot deep in its center a mile long taking by theft 42 acres of my farm when I could not legally give them an outlet.  The Plume they created has taken out wells including mine (twice) in Mitchell County, then wells in the Plume down through Floyd, Butler, Bremer, and in October of 2015 one of the City of Waterloo's well from the Nitrogen fertilizers.  As the levels of bacteria climb the IDNR tells well owners to Chlorinate, and some farmers installed automatic chlorinators. as the Anhydrous Ammonia Nitrogen fertilizer was being washed down with the CAFO Nitrogen fertilizer the levels of Ammonia Nitrogen as N had been testing positive and when the Chlorine and the Ammonia combined the Trihalomethanes were the most damaging to our animals and our health.  CAFO and Anhydrous Ammonia Nitrogen fertilizers are the most water soluble and they are drawing Arsenic from the rock formations down around our aquifers and Lead from our well pipes and distribution lines. Please get the EPA and the Corps of Engineers to enforce our Iowa Drainage Laws and the Clean Water Act as our Iowa 20 year Republican governor and the IDNR and the USDA-NRCS are not obeying these laws and Downstream we are dying.  At least tell Iowans Downstream in this one Pollution Plume to test for Ammonia Nitrogen as N before they Chlorinate for the CAFO bacteria.
