Ecosphere Technologies Receives Two New U.S. Patents for Its Patented Ozonix® Technology for Heavy Metals and Flow
Ecosphere Technologies, Inc. (OTCQB:ESPH), a technology development and intellectual property licensing company, today announced that two Ozonix® patents have been approved by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), bringing Ecosphere's Ozonix® intellectual property portfolio to 9 approved U.S. patents with an additional 12+ patents pending.
On December 9, 2014, the USPTO issued a formal Notice of Allowance for Patent # 8,906,242 , which is a process patent for a cavitation reactor tank that advances the processes of removing heavy metals, oil sheens, cations and organics at a well site. The invention provides a cost-effective onsite cavitation reactor that combines ozone, hydrodynamic cavitation, ultrasound and electro-precipitation for enhanced water treatment. The treatment device is readily transportable such that it can be moved from well site to well site.
On January 20, 2015, the USPTO issued a formal Notice of Allowance for Patent # 8,936,392 , which is a process patent for a proprietary hydrodynamic cavitation device. This latest patented invention relates to fluid handling and, more particularly, to an apparatus for creating hydrodynamic cavitations in a fluid stream. As an integral part of the patented Ozonix® process, Ecosphere's patented hydrodynamic cavitation device is used in high contaminant flow situations where certain cavitation intensities are required.
Dennis McGuire, Chairman and CEO of Ecosphere Technologies, stated, "The receipt of our two latest Ozonix® patents demonstrates that the U.S. Patent Office continues to recognize our position as being a leader in the development of mobile advanced oxidation technologies for use in treating and recycling various sources of contaminated water used during a wide variety of industrial operations."
McGuire continued, "Our newly patented hydrodynamic cavitation device continues to serve as a testament to the engineering, manufacturing and technical capabilities that Ecosphere has to develop synergistic technologies and products to support our customers in the markets we serve. With 9 approved U.S. patents since 2008 and approximately 12 patents pending for our Ozonix® technology, Ecosphere has and will continue to lead the water treatment industry in developing patented and proven water treatment technologies to allow our customers to increase production and reduce their use of liquid chemicals."
Ecosphere's patented Ozonix® technology, a revolutionary Ozone-Based Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP), has enabled oil and gas industry customers to treat, recycle and reuse over 5 billion gallons of water for approximately 1,200 oil and natural gas wells in the United States and Canada, while eliminating millions of gallons of liquid chemicals and generating over $70 million in equipment sales, service and licensing revenue. The Company has also successfully manufactured and deployed approximately 50 Ozonix® machines to a wide variety of major hydraulic fracturing shale plays around the United States and Canada.
