New Water-saving Product for Lawns

California approves water-saving product from Scotts Miracle-Gro

The California Department of Food and Agriculture registered EveryDrop, a product CEOJim Hagedornsaid last monthgives the Marysville company an opportunity in the state.

Scotts says EveryDrop helps water easily and evenly penetrate soil. It uses surfactants, which golf courses and commercial landscapers use.

"The technology will now be available in the consumer space and allows homeowners to getgreat results in their lawns and reduce their irrigation by up to 25 percent," Scotts said in a press release.

The product is part of an overall campaign that includes a website giving Californians tips on how to meet new, stringent water reduction mandates to deal with the state's drought.

Scotts plans to introduce the product in California as soon as August. The company has been watching the various droughts across the U.S. and spent years developing the "breakthrough technology."

"With hundreds of employees and millions of consumers statewide we stand with the State of California in addressing this crisis,"Hagedorn wrote to Brownin an April letter.
