GE introduces new ZeeWeed technology for seawater reverse osmosis pre-treatment
GE Power & Water has added the ZeeWeed™ 1500 RMS (Rackless Modular System) to its Procera™ Seawater Solutions range for seawater pre-treatment of reverse osmosis systems.
GE claims that Procera solutions are designed to help improve equipment durability. The pre-treatment components protect membrane desalination systems by removing suspended solids and impurities. After analysis of an operator’s source water and conservation needs, modular desalination systems are then fitted to their applications.
For pressurized ultrafiltration (UF) systems, GE adds that the new ZW1500 RMS is a cost-effective modular system, which provides a 50% reduction in rack footprint. It uses ZeeWeed membrane technology to produce a water quality suitable to feed reverse osmosis systems. The ZW1500 RMS is claimed to cost 75% less than a typical rack, has minimized site assembly, and its modular design makes for easy installation and plant expansion.
