Noble Purification Cleans Peterborough's Water

Company AnnouncedPrototype Implementation at Peterborough's Wastewater Treatment Plant in Order toChange the Way Municipalities Clean Their Wastewater

After compiling more than year's worth of lab research, Noble Purification is ready to get to work cleaning Peterborough's water.

The company announced its plans to start building a prototype for its water filtration system .It's a major milestone for start-up, which was officially incorporated last year and has been operating out of The Cube, a technology business incubator in Peterborough. By using an organism called Euglena gracillis, the system will aim to, essentially, change the way municipalities clean treat their wastewater.

Mr. Noble's history with Euglena dates back years, when he first discovered the organism would eat nanosilver particles during an experiment in his parent's sauna. Nanosilver particles are found in various household items, including cleaning agents, which go down the drain.

Noble Purification has also grown into a five-person team of staff, backed by a research advisory committee and a business advisory board -- all comprised of Peterborough area professionals.

With help from a $100,000 Eastern Ontario Development Program grant provided through the Community Futures Development Corporation, Noble Purification will begin construction of its prototype at Fleming College's Centre for Alternative Wastewater Treatment.

The funding will be provided over two years and will help cover the cost to hire two full-time employees and buy some equipment.

When it's complete, it'll be tested at the Lindsay facility for three months before it's installed at Peterborough's wastewater treatment plant.
