Ohio EPA Plans to Revoke License of Sebring Water Treatment Operator

In a release on Sunday, the Ohio EPA also said they are planning to revoke the license of the treatment plant operator
SEBRING, Ohio -- Classes at Sebring Local Schools were canceled Friday after levels of lead were found in water samples from seven homes in the village.
School was canceled again on Monday after the EPA determined that they would need to do more testing throughout the community.

In a release on Sunday, the Ohio EPA also said they are planning to revoke the license of the treatment plant operator, Jim Bates. The EPA says that Bates did not perform his job correctly and may have falsified reports. There is now an open criminal investigation as well.
The water was tested at a total of 40 locations, including homes and several school buildings. Village officials said that in seven of those 40 locations, elevated copper/lead levels were detected.
