Energy Recovery has been awarded a $3.96m deal to deploy its PX Pressure Exchanger, a desalination tool, to a water plant in Oman's Qurayat area
The contract awarded by Hyflux, an environmental products firm headquartered in Singapore, is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2015, Muscat Daily reported.
The Qurayat water plant is a joint project with Hyflux Ltd.
Energy Recovery, an American pressure energy technology firm, said Hyflux will use its PX-Q300 Pressure Exchanger devices for the water plant, located near the Arabian Sea, producing 200 million litres of fresh water.
Joal Gay, president and CEO of Energy Recovery, said: "We have continued to witness momentum in desalination orders throughout 2015."
"The company is now seeing increasing activity in an improving desalination market".
The Qurayat project is currently in its construction phase. Hydrochem, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hyflux, is the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor while operation and maintenance of the project is being performed by a subsidiary.
Hyflux holds 85% of the shares of Qurayat Desalination Company through its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Hyflux Utility (Oman) and Hyflux International.
Modern Channels Services (MCS) holds the remaining 15% of the shares.
