Public Authority for Electricity and Water Installed Emergency Reservoirs Project in Muscat at a Cost of More Than RO 31Millionto Ensure Access to Water Service to the Citizens
In the context of the pursuit of the Public Authority for Electricity and Water to deliver water services and ensure uninterrupted service in case of emergency, the Authority implemented project to install emergency water tanks for more than RO 31 million. The project is designed to ensure access to water service to the citizens, taking into account in the design of the project events such as natural disaster or disruption in production plants, helping PAEW to maintain and provide drinking water for 7 days in cases of interruption of water service.
The project includes two phases. First phase is construction of a reservoir with a capacity of 15,000 cubic meters in the Wattayah region, reservoir with a capacity of 25,000 cubic meters in the Ruwi region, and additional reservoirs of capacity 30,000 and 15,000 cubic meters in the Wadi Kabir region. This phase has reached more than 65%.
The second phase of the project include the construction of reservoirs with capacity of 146,000 cubic meters and 73,000 cubic meters in addition to excavation work in mountainous regions to create crisis management platforms. The project phase is at a completion of 40%.
