Peru to Invest in WASH Projects Through 2021

Peru's Ministry Has Launched the National Sanitation Plan that Includes a 8-year Investment of 53.5 Billion Soles Aimed at Improving the Country's Sanitation and Water Quality in the 2014-2021 Period
"More than 2.6 billion soles have been transferred to local and regional governments to finance water and sanitation projects, which is in line with the deficit targets," said the Minister of Housing, Construction and Sanitation Milton Von Hesse. "Of the total investment, 43.3 billion soles will be set aside to for potable water, sanitation and wastewater coverage projects," he explained. He went on to add that the investment for potable water and sanitation improvement works amounts to 8.9 billion soles. Likewise, he stood out that, between 2011 and 2013, water coverage rose from 75.8 percent to 86.1 percent, and the rural gap decreased significantly. Source: Andina
