Railways Have Identified Eight Stations Where Reverse Osmosis (RO) Drinking Water Units Will be Put up on Experimental Basis
Railways have identified eight stations wherereverse osmosis(RO) drinking water units will be put up on experimental basis, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
In a written reply to a query, Minister of State for RailwayManojSinhasaid his ministry carries out periodical check on quality of water at stations and in case of any deficiency, corrective action will be taken.
Railways have identified for provision of RO at eight stations including Bhopal,Dwarka, Gadag, Guwahati,Hazrat Nizamuddin, Madurai, Patna and Tirupati on experimental basis.
The RO process involves substantial wastage of water depending upon its quality and will require uninterrupted power supply.
As per guidelines, maximum retail price per bottle of package drinking water other thanRail Neerof 1000 ml is Rs 15 only.
